Tonight is the last time the SWI library will be opened before the semester starts. Stop by and check out a book before the craziness of the fall semester…
We will be open 7-8 tonight, August 8th. We hope to see you there!
Tomorrow night (May 9) we will be open from 7-8 p.m.
We hope to see many of you! Come visit us and check out a book
Here’s a bit about us:
Hello! My name is Lynsey Knisely. I came to Louisville in 2005 to attend Boyce College. During this time I met my husband and we were married in 2007. I currently work full time while my husband attends Southern. I enjoy reading, cooking, crafting, hanging out, playing with my kitties, and serving my church. Lucas and I do not have children, but are looking forward to starting a family soon. I am excited Kelly and I are able to serve the SWI ladies in the library this year. I have benefited from being able to check out many of the books that have been recommended in class and hope you learn to take advantage of this great resource! Please stop by the library to meet me and check out one of the many wonderful books!
Hi! I’m Kelly Hawley. I came to Southern with my wonderful husband a year and a half ago. We are originally from Colorado, and I am definitely missing my sun and beautiful 14,000 foot mountains. I really enjoy organizing, cooking, reading, budgeting, walking, and listening to my friends. I am currently working as an office manager, which fills a lot of my week. Nathan and I do not have children yet, but hope to in the future. The thing I’m most excited about with working the SWI library is meeting each of you and helping you get the resources that can help you further your joy in God, your homemaking, your parenting, your cooking, and whatever else I might be able to offer you! So now that you know a little about me, please stop in so that I can get to know you. And maybe you’ll leave with a book in hand!
We hope to see you tomorrow!
It’s been a while…
Life has gotten too chaotic and I have to limit what I am doing outside of my home for the sake of my family.
Unfortunately, being the SWI Librarian is one of the things I must sacrifice. However, it has been a great joy and honor to serve in this role. I highly value the worth of a good book, so it has been wonderful to encourage the same thinking amongst the SWI students.
Here are the main duties:
Open the librarian and help students with their book inquiries from 6:30 until 6:55 and 8:45 until 9:00 each Thursday of SWI.
Add new books to collection and catalog when donations are given or new arrivals come in.
Here is an optional duty:
Maintain this blog.
My dear friend Indy (pictured left with her husband) will be working at the library tonight to help you with all your book needs!
Please stop by and feel free to drop off books and also check out books! Conversation will be just as friendly, if not more!
I’ll see you again next week!
we carry CDs of our Seminary Saturdays for the last six years.
That’s right. Let me highlight a few of the sessions from each year for you:
Teaching Doctrine to Children
Tips on Homeschooling
Discipline Issues in Parenting
Home Management 101
Parenting Infants and Young Children
Raising Large Families
Balacning Home, Church, and Ministry
Pursuing a Healthy Family Lifestyle
Making the Most of Your Budget
Hiding God’s Word in Your Heart
Advice for the Early Years of Marriage
Helping Women Trust God When There Are No Easy Answers
Maintaining Marriage and Family on a Mission Field
God’s Grace in Suffering
Helping Women Help Others in a World Filled with Pornography
The process is the same borrowing CDs as borrowing books. So, what’s stopping you?
And with that the new year has begun. I hope you all enjoyed your first night in your new classes surrounded by, hopefully, some new faces!
If you are new to SWI this year, can I just say welcome!?! This is my third year in SWI and I treasure this time and feel humbled and blessed to be surrounded by the Godly women that teach us. It truly is an honor! Welcome and I hope that you take advantage of all SWI has to offer, including the library! (hehe…of course I will put in a shameless plug!)
For returning students, welcome back! I hope that you continue to be energized as you seek to learn and grow in your role as a Christ follower, woman, wife, maybe mother, and future (or current) ministry wife. What a privilege to continue learning beside you!
Let me introduce and remind you of the SWI Library and our policies. The SWI Library is an amazing resource available just for you, SWI students and faculty! We are continually growing, so watch the blog for new books to be introduced! In the library you will find many books that range in topic from biographies to marriage, women and parenting, infertility and adoption, bible study and evangelism, and much much more!
It is so easy to find books at the SWI Library! Come before or after class, we’re open from 6:30-6:55 and again from 8:45 until 9:00 (although you may find me after 9 too!). Come and browse our collection or come with a topic or specific book in mind. Either way I will help you find what you are looking for!
It is old-fashioned and very simple to check books out, don’t be afraid! Simply pull the card from the back of that special book you want to borrow and write your name on the line. Then turn it in to me at the desk, it’s not a big room, so don’t worry about getting lost trying to find me! Your book will be due by the end of the following month. So, if you borrowed a book tonight, it is due by the end of September!
See, it’s really easy! p.s. If you have more questions, check out the about page or e-mail me!
Lastly, normally I try to do something fun and sweet (as in cookies) to bribe you all to come and visit me, however I’ve now got four kids to eat those cookies…so, you’ll just have to be motivated by the awesome books and very friendly librarian!
Hope to see you soon!!!
Oh, and I have every intention of starting to blog on here again. So, watch out!
